Can’t beat the price on this wardrobe, especially when it’s on offer. Sturdy enough that taking it apart and re-assembling in a different home has worked brilliantly!

Lovely when assembled

My opinion - 1 month ago

Ordered these wardrobes aswell as a corner and a single. Took approximately 6 months for all parts to arrive/ return etc due to certain parts being out of stock on numerous occasions. There was also times they had scheduled to be delivered and had no show or calls. We totally understand the current issues with covid but considering we ordered end of August 2020 and only now able to assemble I think that is slightly overdue . Didn't want to put up untill all parts had arrived incase there was any problems. However we had to in the end due to time going on. Lovely quality on the actual wardrobe and doors however the detail hinges, connectors etc very poor quality and broke easily, which in fairness was resent to us but the Hassel just prolonged things again. Now that they are all up I can say they do look lovely and look good quality. Just disappointing we had to wait so long.

Worst Product I’ve ever bought

Bought 2 of these and the Darwin set of drawers. Had nothing but trouble ever since we bought them. Doors falling off, shelves falling down, drawers breaking. Would not recommend to anyone and has put me off ever buying from b&q again. Poor quality. Doesn’t even deserve one star.

A change of design makes this wardrobe useless.

JB John Boy - 4 month ago

I bought a Darwin wardrobe many years ago and recently dismantled it to move house. It was easy to both disassemble and re-assemble. I bought a new one for the new house BUT Form/B&Q have changed the method by which the sides secure to the top and bottom. My old one uses what's called a cam and bolt system. Turning the cam tightens the joint and closes the gap and is a really good and widely used system and has been around for a very long time. The new wardrobe uses a completely different system using, instead, a kind of intricately design plastic and metal dowel. The long end is inserted into one side and the small end goes into the other. Tuning a tiny screw causes the small end to expand a little and so it is friction that keeps the two parts together.

So there is no longer a mechanism to mechanically draw the two sides together. Worse the gap widens as you work on the unit and this in turn stops the internal drawers and shelves from fitting as the gap between the two sides is now millimetres wider than it should be.

As a keen DIY person I am lucky and have a number of clamps long enough to draw the two sides back together and complete the project BUT the gaps between the sides and the top and bottom remains and I can't do anything about it.

I regret not knowing this before I bought it as I would NOT have bought it, but now it's too late.

bad It does not deserve even one star

Do not buy this type of wardrobe
The wood is very bad and the paint is much worse
A waste of money
