I installed one of these 4 years ago and I have never had a problem. I am just to buy another one for another area.
I wanted them for some outdoor lights to come on at dusk and switch off without having to think about it.
Do not to be dumb and position the sensor near to the light or it |will end up in a cycle of switching on and off.

Really rather useless

This unit must be mounted away from the light it controls. If you mount it too close to your light fitting it will get into an endless loop of switching on and off (it switches on when it gets dark, the light comes on and so it switches the light off). You can alter the trigger sensitivity (the ambient light level at which it switches on) but this does not solve the basic design problem. Dusk/dawn light bulbs work very well and don't seem to have this problem of switching off in response to their own light. If this had been intelligently designed it would have a trigger light level (to switch a lamp on) and an adjustable, much higher turn-off level. I installed it and then had to remove it to go back to a light sensing light bulb. A complete waste of time, effort and money.
