As a valve good, poor limit switch
Peter 2 - 4 year ago
I have two of these valves in my heating system, as valves they open and close as the system demands. The valves seem to go on for ever, mine are now 16 years old, HOWEVER, in the actuator unit there is a motor, which can be replaced, but has never broken down, and a tiny limit switch which cannot be replaced. In the 16 years the limit switches have failed 4 times! The only solution is to replace the whole actuator unit at a price of around £50. AND yes, you can buy actuator units, but they cost more than a complete valve and actuator, how made is that.
Drayton should upgrade the quality of their limit switches, pence, or make it possible to replace them.
Drayton 3 way Valve

We bought this to replace the original which had become faulty, this is the second actuator unit that we have bought, we had trouble with the original sticking in either one position hot water or the other position heating, if I had a choice of having Central heating installed again I wouldn't choose this unit as we have had to replace it twice, it seems it is susceptible to malfunctioning if it gets too hot, which is silly as it is on top of a very hot pipe in the respect ventilation to its location seems to be necessary, awkward as most people have them installed in the airing cupboard, or some other enclosed space.

The valve works fine. As an emergency replacement for my central heating, I required it ASAP so reserved it. To my dismay, the reserved item was unavailable until the next day. How ridiculous. Fortunately, there were others in your store.
