The perfect worktop is not just about completing the look of your kitchen - it also needs to suit your lifestyle. As the place where you chop, clean and prepare food, your worktop works incredibly hard.
And it might not be for your kitchen alone. Worktops are a staple feature of utility rooms and if you want it to match across the two rooms, do be sure to consider how it gets used in them both. Maintenance can prove another key consideration. Some options require a little more TLC than others, so think about how much time you have to dedicate to that. And let’s not forget that the kitchen is one of the home’s social hubs, so if you enjoy entertaining select one that makes a real statement.
So whether your kitchen’s about hosting glamorous dinner parties, cooking up a storm with your latest cookbook, or the hustle and bustle of a busy family, we have a hard-wearing and stylish option for you. We offer everything from the latest laminate trends and sustainable wood to our luxurious custom-made granite or quartz. All of our worktops are beautifully crafted and come in range of finishes and designs. And with an option to suit every budget, we’ve got the perfect worktop to add the finishing touch to your kitchen.
There are a number of kitchen worktop materials to choose from.
A popular option, laminate worktops offer great value for money. And with more advanced designs than ever before, they make a top choice for hardworking kitchens.
Laminate kitchen worktops are:
For more durability and a better-looking worktop, opt for a laminate with AEON Enhanced Performance Technology. This adds between three to five times the protection from wear and tear, and improves the colour, clarity and consistency of your worktop.
For increased durability and a silky-touch surface, check out our Italian-designed Edurus range of laminate worktops. They are:
For the ultimate in laminate worktops, explore our Exilis range. These worktops are our thinnest option at just 12.5mm and are double-sided so can be used for shelving as well as for worktops. They are:
Natural wood worktops are striking to look at and complement kitchens with more traditional designs. Our solid wood worktops are:
Want the look of a bespoke worktop without the expense? Opt for earthstone. Earthstone worktops are:
For the ultimate luxury kitchen worktop, have yours custom made. Our bespoke options are completely unique, made to measure and are installed by professional fitters. As well as a stunning finish, they're perfect for kitchens with curved worktops.
We offer three premium materials for our bespoke worktops - granite, quartz and solid surface (an acrylic material).
Solid surface worktops
1. First, get together with one of our colleagues to discuss your requirements. Come in-store or book an appointment.
2. Once you’ve chosen your preferred finish and it’s all been finalised, we’ll give you a preliminary quote for your custom worktop.
3. A surveyor will then visit your home to check where the electrical sockets are, the position of windows and other practical considerations. Once this has been done, a new, final quote will be given to you for approval.
4. One of our specialists will visit to take a digital template of your worktop (if you’re having new cabinets, these will need to have been installed beforehand). We’ll then create your unique worktop using exact measurements.
5.Our installation team will arrive to fit your new worktop approximately five to seven days (10 for a solid surface worktop) after your digital template is created. Then our kitchen fitters will follow up to connect taps, sinks and appliances. All done.
Once you’ve settled on the material for your worktop, it’s time to think about finer details such as its profile. The profile is the shape of the worktop when viewed from the side, and there are a number of different options available to choose from.
For a sleek contemporary look in your kitchen, choose a square edge with its bold, sharp lines. This profile means there is no wrapping around on laminate options.
Square profiles are available for:
Square is the only profile that works with curved kitchen cabinet units – these are known as square edge curve worktops. These worktops curve with the shape of the cabinet unit, giving your kitchen the seamless flow of the cabinet and the blunt effect of the square edge.
Square edge curve worktop profiles are available for:
Square edges are also available for our bespoke options, where we use a very slight chamfer (slope) of about 2 or 3mm. This prevents the profiles from chipping, but still helps create that clean, modern look.
Square bespoke worktop profiles are available for:
For the more traditional and classic kitchen style, consider round edges to create a feeling of comfort and softness.
Choose from different degrees of curve dependent on the worktop’s thickness. Measured in millimetres, the curve measures the worktop’s radius (the distance from the circle’s centre to its perimeter). We offer three radiuses – 3, 6 and 10mm. These curves are applied to both the top and bottom of the worktop profile for a symmetrical effect (this is also known as doubling, for example ‘double 6mm radius’). The traditional choice, 10mm is the most sloping curve and the largest radius. The tighter 6mm radius is an increasingly popular choice, while the even more acute 3mm radius enhances the realism of timber-look and stone-look laminates.
Rounded worktop profiles are available for:
Our bespoke range is also available with a rounded profile. Like the laminates, they come in a choice of radiuses – 8 or 15mm – which are also doubled.
Rounded bespoke worktop profiles are available for:
A premium appearance that emulates granite, the bevel profile is characterised by corners cut into small 45 degree angles.
Bevel worktop profiles are available for:
With your worktop decided on, there are a few further items you might want to consider.
Pick up a kit featuring everything you, or a fitter, would need to install your kitchen worktop. We offer installation kits for solid wood and Earthstone worktops – including detailed instructions, sanding tools to complete the finishing of the work surface and polish to ensure that your worktop looks its best.
When finishing off your kitchen worktop project, make sure you match the both the edging strips and adhesive (also known as join sealant) to the colour of your surface. This ensures that any joins will be inconspicuous and will lead to a more polished result.
To keep your kitchen worktop looking at its best, stock up on our specialist cleaning products – though these aren't needed for laminate worktops which can be maintained with soapy water alone.
We offer worktop maintenance kits to deal with the daily wear and tear that can result from a busy family kitchen, but you may need more particular help. All of our solid wood worktops are pre-oiled, but over time they’ll benefit from re-treating to protect from stains, water damage and more. Wood oils are the best option for this.
Protect your granite worktops against stains, water marks and oil spillages with a sealer. Once done, polish the surface with a daily spray or an antibacterial cleaner (this can also be used on quartz worktops).
And for solid surfaces, we offer both a rejuvenating cream to remove any scratches or marks as well as an antibacterial cleaner for the daily removal of dirt and grime.
