6mm Dia x 1m lg. What I needed to fix my problem
I did an oil change on my car and overfilled the engine with oil, so had to drain off some oil, and it would take a long time to get under the car, take off the heavy plastic under engine protection cover and its 12 retaining screws, drain off some oil, how much oil to drain? I did not actually know, and this would have taken a long time to complete - it was also raining heavily which is not good, when working on the driveway underneath a car, getting wet. So I needed a narrow tube to fit in the dipstick hole and it would need to reach the bottom of the engine oil sump, and I found this B&Q item. I cut it to a length about 50mm longer than the dipstick length and attached it to a 60ml syringe via a short piece of flexible plastic tubing. As I fed the aluminium tube deep into the engine I could feel it sliding past some metal parts as it reached down to the bottom of the oil sump. Once in place I managed to suck the oil up into the syringe and place into a clean container, ready for use at a later date. This did take a few minutes, but was much quicker than removing the under engine plastic cover with all its retaining screws. This length of tube has now become a much valued tool, which can be joined onto the piece that was cut off using another flexible plastic tubing. FYI I also previously purchased the 10mm dia X 1m long aluminium tube to use with an old fence spray paint unit to convert it into a weed sprayer - which could then easily reach ground level without me straining (I'm quit tall) . It has also worked great - for the last 10 or so years.

usefull bits and bobs
I used this tube to make a spare tube for my bb gun but then I though I might create my own and the bb pellets fit perfectly down this tube not letting any air past them but not getting stuck when I fired it so I tapped the end and I have been using it as an extended barrel for when I want to add on a silencer

Aluminium Tubing
Used to make light weight tent poles. They fit the bill just nicely.
