Pipe insulation

Pipe insulation serves two important purposes. It reduces heat loss from hot water pipes, keeping energy bills low and homes warmer. It also protects water pipes from freezing, crucial in preventing damage from the expansion of liquid inside as ice crystals form. Often known as pipe lagging, insulation for piping is commonly found in loft spaces in British homes where temperatures tend to be lower, but it can be used elsewhere to increase energy-efficiency and protect against plunging temperatures.
