Wastes & traps
Plumbing wastes and traps provide a route for greywater to escape from sanitaryware. Basin, bath and shower wastes are commonly used to channel used bathing water quickly away, while kitchen and utility room appliances require their own type. Wherever they’re used, overflows should be installed to direct water straight to the waste should a tap be left running and water levels rise too high. Traps are common here too – these components capture particles that may otherwise drain away but lead to serious blockages further down the wastewater system. They can easily be removed and cleaned should water start to drain slowly.
