Broke while being wired
Bought to replace fitting on existing lamp. Unfortunately one of the plastic lugs snapped off when I put wire round it, so unusable. I didn't much like the earthing arrangement either.

Safety switch - good idea, poorly implemented
The safety switch inside the bulb holder could not be depressed enough by the bulb for the safety switch to work. I could get the bulb to illuminate, but only by pressing the bulb further in by hand - which indicated where the fault is and the switch failed when the bulb was released. Returned the item and got a refund. Found a much cheaper and better replacement at another well-known and similar store.

Bought for £6, then found better quality ones online for 2.59. Won't be buying again @ B&Q

Bought several of these and found that inmost of them the screws holding the cables in place are defective .

For finishing DIY lamps
Great little product and as pointed out where one customer said the switch didn't work, well that's because of the GREAT safety feature of "No bulb, NO power". Pop a bulb in and the switch works a treat.

Faulty item
The plastic switch was jammed so the whole lamp holder was useless.

Very poor quality
This is an exceptionally poorly made product. The metal for the wiring connections is so thin that the screws do not tighten up once you have put the wires in. To be avoided.

Good British Made Quality
I don't know whether the previous reviewer is a bit tongue in cheek or completely missing the point. The switch only works when a bulb is fitted. This is a very welcome modern safety feature that stops you getting a shock if you accidentally touch the pins inside. It also automatically switches off if you take a bulb out when it is switched on. This lamp holder is a quality British Made product. It also has an internal earth terminal so there are no ugly wire on the outside. I have used this lamp holder to refurbish an old Anglepoise lamp and it really looks the part. It is possible to buy a matching brass cord grip for it to really finish the job off.
