Replacement Satin Chrome Switched Lampholder.
Bought this switched lamp holder to replace a broken one one a table lamp, no problem to find one at B & Q Blackburn Lancashire it was on a shelf at the Store Map easily located, saved me from buying a new table lamp for a customer.

Good quality but expensive
A good quality fitting with a worthwhile safety feature - the switch will not operate and the terminals will not be live unless a bulb is in the socket. The earthing arrangement is fiddly, with a screw directly into the body at the very bottom of the holder - narrow and difficult to access so it is hard to keep the wire in place while tightening. I used a crimped-on connector. Use a circuit tester to check for earth integrity before using. Be sure to select the right thread for the connection to your lamp - 10mm or 1/2". If not sure buy both and send one back. The fitting seems expensive compared with others that seem to be available online, but I have not tried and therefore cannot judge other aspects of those items such as quality and ease of use.

Does the job.
The only thing we've found wrong is that it's difficult to actually get the bulb in. It takes a lot of pressure to get the bayonet in far enough to catch.

Disappointing
Bought this today. Although it is British made two of the 3 terminal screws were so loose in their chambers that they would not tighten onto the cable. I had to solder them in.

Very poor design
I originally purchased three of the lamp holders to replace American cable and socket on lamps bought in the U.S., two of the three sockets were returned to the store because the earth connection within the socket was unusable due to the small anchor screw turning on itself and not holding the earth in place. I have since purchased a further socket which is little better but by increasing the wire in the socket (doubling the wire on itself) have managed to secure the earth. I am not happy with the socket and continue to look for a replacement which is difficult because the connection of the socket is via a 10mm screw thread inner tube

Good product - Just a little short on info
These things come in two sizes - 10mm or 12.7mm (½")and nothing on the packaging or DIY.com says that these measurements refer to the diameter at the base of the fitting. But once you have that sorted, it's pretty well plain sailing afterwards. As my lamp was metal, I would have preferred a facility for an earth the but this wasn't difficult to overcome. All-in-all, not the most robust piece of kit I've ever purchased but good value and seems to be doing the job so far.
