Hand rail option
I used this deck joist as a Hand Rail which is just about the right size for grabbing hold of, particularly as it has rounded edges. I also gave it a couple of coats of wood stain which stuck to the surface like glue, in addition, the wood was straight and not too many Knots, so overall very pleased.

Check they’re straight before buying.
I bought a few of these last week, it’s a bit pot luck on getting something that is reasonably straight, not bent or twisted, always check them first.
