perfect if you want a catch with a gentle grip
I wanted a catch for a small lightweight hatch door - one of those doors that almost stays shut by itself but not quite, or gets blown open by a draught. It had previously had a bales, then a magnetic catch. I looked at these and all the other possibilities, but I liked the idea of this one. Yes, it was small and very simple compared to some of the others (and very cheap - which almost put me off!), but I decided to try it and I'm glad I did. It keeps the door shut, but it's still really easy to open. (Also, unlike the picture above, all the parts have a nice brass finish.) Adjustable, too - I was able to increase the tension of the gripper slightly (after it was in place) by squeezing it with a pair of pliers. Easy to fit. The screws are fine - you need a small Phillips or standard slot screwdriver. You probably wouldn't want these on a big door or one that really doesn't want to stay shut, but for a situation like mine they're fine.
