My Handle - 5 / 5 - 04/06/2024

This product is very durable and attractive

I bought this product to replace an existing one, which was 15 years old.

New door handles

Decided to replace 10 of my doors which I got online from B and Q and needed handles for them. These were ideal and as well as having a nice action, they look good to

Looks the part

Really nice looking product, replaced some old brass ones. Interesting the old brass ones still had a better spring than the new ones.. I suppose that is a sign of the times.

Product is not worth the pain to install

We bought these for every door in our new home. As the rose can't be fully removed to install the handle, you have to awkwardly position the screws so they are going in at all angles. Terrible product that I would not purchase again

Tricky to install but works fine and looks great

Badly designed, but fine once installed. The through-bolt holes are the lateral ones but these clash with the door mechanism. Annoyingly the other holes for screws are just too small to fit the female end of the through-bolt. I found drilling out the bottom and 11 o'clock holes to accept the through-bolt and installing it slightly offset works well. I used a 5.5mm drill bit and drilled from the rear of the handle, it only needs a tiny bit shaving off. Only one side needs drilling as the male part of the through-bolt fits already, its just the female end that doesn't. To offset the bolt positions (this rotates the 11 o'clock bolt hole away from the door mechanism) rotate the handle very slightly so the bottom hole sits almost at 7 o'clock, this makes the handle sit with the upswept part horizontal which looks better to my eyes. Drill through this bottom hole first, fit the handle with the bottom through-bolt installed and make sure the 2 sides are level, they may need a little rotation to sit level. Now mark the 11 o'clock hole for drilling, remove the handle and drill the hole all the way through the door. You can't drill without removing the handle again because the trim cover ring gets in the way and stops you drilling horizontally. Reinstall the handles now with both through-bolts (bottom one and top one). Whichever additional screw holes are now lined up with door and not mechanism can then be screwed in at an angle without a pilot hole. FYI these clock face positions assume you are looking at a door with the hinge to the left. If it's the other way round then 7 o'clock and 11 o'clock become 5 and 2 o'clock. It sounds complicated but it's really not. It's basically just slightly rotating the handle and drilling some sensibly placed holes out to accept the through-bolt.

Impossible to fit as intended

The screw holes, to attach the handle to the door, are not accessible in anything resembling a straight line as the collar that covers them is not totally removable and is consequently in the way of a drill, or the screw. Who designed this? It simply doesn't work.

Get trapped!

Had three of these handles break on different doors around the house. The spindle appears to disappear in to the handle on one side of the door, rendering the other side useless and you potentially trapped in a room. Replacing all handles around the house now for totally different design.

Great

Nice easy handle to fit. For those of you saying you would need to drill through the mechanism to fit the handle try using the hole on the opposite side

Got locked

Absolutely rubbish design. I got locked in the bathroom and somebody had to open the door from the other side to get me out. The handle on the side of the bathroom stopped working. Happened twice. Now I will change this to something else.

Don’t buy - Looks good but absolutely rubbish

Screws are naff and the holes are impossible to line up correctly. I have had to replace two of the door handles already and am now cutting my losses and replacing all 10 sets in the house. Do not buy - such a shame as they look great
