Good wood stain!
This stain is good , easy to apply and as I have never stained wood before I found it easy to achieve a darker colour by just adding more until I liked the effect . I would describe the colour close to an actual walnut though although I was not fussy on how it turned out . A happy customer

Did the job brilliantly & easy to use
I read all of the reviews on this one and almost didn't bother, as they're not actually very good. Anyhow, I had a pine bookcase I wanted to dye to a darker colour to match our new furniture, rather than buy new. Yep OK, I had to do about 5 coats to get it as dark as I wanted, but it soaks in and dries so quickly, it only took me about an hour and a half. I applied it with a micro fibre cloth. Went on really easily. Comes off hands with ease. Finish looks great! Matt, not shiny. Exactly what I wanted. No it won't do it in one coat, but keep going until you get the colour you need. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Really good stuff! Glad I chose it.

Transformed my kitchen
I was really skeptics to purchase this product and want to dye my existing oak wood, what a fantastic product ... after taking the time to sand down and clean my existing worktop it looked like a new kitchen by the time I finished! Really impressed, the prep work massively helps and does make w huge difference, if your prepared to but in the graft then buy the product! It gives a very rich dark wood look, just what we wanted.

Patchy finish at best
I needed a dark oak colour to apply to a self made pine desk table top to match it with other dark oak furniture. I had a shed full of wood dyes, but sadly, when I applied them to a sample of the wood, none were the right colour. I tried a few other locally available dyes, all of which looked stunning on the wood, but didn’t match the other furniture. I left the Colron range until last as it was more expensive, but the Jacobean Dark Oak appeared to be a good match, so eventually I picked up a 250ml tin. Upon opening the Colron dark oak I immediately noticed the thick consistency. This makes the product difficult to even out when applying it to the wood. Once applied, the colour appears very patchy despite 3 careful coats being applied over a number of days (pine board - see picture). The dye smells like it is water based, which is different to the Colron antique pine I had in the shed - I had already tried the antique pine on an off cut of the wood in case multiple layers or a mix with other dyes I had would make the right colour so I know that the old spirit based Colron applies evenly. The table top is destroyed, even after hours of effort trying to get the colour even - I wish I had gone with a contrasting colour instead - at least the colour would have been even. I don’t often do reviews, but I am so disappointed with the results of this product, I felt compelled to let others know about it.
