built information
purchased the item whilst renovating the bedroom, I intended to go for a built in look with a plastered finish around the apperture. Like many very old houses the floor and ceiling is uneven so I had to construst a plinth to level it up. I was dismayed by the lack of pre sale information available concerning sizes, mainly the thickness of the timber frame needed to mount the track on. just before delivery I was informed the damages and shortages must be notified within 72 hours, great given the fact I've now got to alter the frame to accomadate the track! when I finally was able to check the kit I was surpised to see I was provided with a track about 2ft longer than required. On contacting the manufacturer thinking I'd been supplied the wrong track I was informed they only supplied a couple of different sized tracks and it was up to me to cut mine down to the required size. This is easy enough with the base track but not the top track. It would be rather difficult to cut such a profile straight with a hacksaw and using an angle grinder is likely to result in a burnt edge in a finished area. Its such an easy process to supply the right sized track as they are cut to size during manufacture off a rolling mill, not to mention the cost saving on a manufacturing point. overall the jury is out on the product itself but the lack of pre-information and attention to detail is very disapointing.
