Great product for polishing metal objects

This pack contains two of the coarser abrasive buffs, 180 and 280 grit. I'm not sure which one is which, as this isn't made clear on the package, but I think the darker one is the coarser one. I'm mostly using these to polish some old collectable coins, which I'm selling online. They do a good job of cleaning off dirt & corrosion even from intricate parts of the coins, without removing too much metal. I only use the coarse polishers for heavily corroded coins, and finish off later with the finer ones. If I want a shiny finish, I use metal polish on a cloth. The polishing discs seem to be made of a Scotchbrite-like material. They use the Speedclic system, which means the accessories are easy to change. I have also used them for other applications, such as polishing my aluminium gas hob rings, and removing burnt patches of food from my pans. They should be used at slow speed, and safety glasses must be worn, as they do throw off bits of material as they rotate. My only niggle is that they are a little expensive.

Great for coarser polishing of metal objects

This pack contains two of the coarser polishing buffs, 180 and 280 grit. The third 320 grit one is supplied in a different pack. I think the darker one is the coarser of the two, but this isn't clear from the packaging. I have been using these primarily to polish some collectable coins which I have been selling online. They do a great job of removing dirt & corrosion, without wearing down the metal too much. I only use these coarse ones on severely corroded coins, then finish off later with the finer ones. Sometimes, if I want a shiny finish, I use metal polish on a cloth as well. The polishing disc seems to be a ScotchBrite-like material of different coarseness. They use the Speedclic system which allows quick changing of the accessories. I have also used these for other things, such as cleaning my gas hob rings, and cleaning off burnt patches of food on my frying pans. They work really well, but they do wear down eventually. It's important to use a slow speed & wear safety specs, as they do throw off chunks of material as they rotate. I love these polishers, but my only niggle is that they are a little expensive.

Great for polishing coins & other metal objects

I bought these primarily for polishing some collectable coins I'm selling. They do a terrific job of removing corrosion, dirt & tarnish, and seem great at getting into the nooks & crannies of the engraved & serrated portions of the coins. They give a satin finish to the metal- if you want a high polish, you'll have to use metal polish & rub the surface either by hand with a cloth, or using a Dremel felt polishing disc. These buffs benefit from the Speedclic attachment system, which allows quick changing of the accessory. I have also used them for shining my aluminium gas hob supports, & it cleans off burnt food splashes whilst leaving a great satin finish to the aluminium. They are also great for cleaning electrical contacts, nuts, bolts & numerous other things. These buffs are available in 3 grit sizes, 180, 280, & 320. These purple ones are the finest, ie 320 grit. Happy polishing!
