Off black exterior eggshell paint

I was very impressed with both the colour and quality of this paint. Very pleased with the finished results.

Off- Black is on point!

Nice black that reminds us of charcoal. All of the black samples we ordered were beautiful! The texture is thick and it provides excellent coverage. The sample was a decent size to try over various textures and coatings.

Touching up existing paint work with new pot

Bought the tester pot to touch up some scuffs on my existing doors and wood panelling I had previously painted in this exact colour … however when it dried the colour didn’t match at all leaving the paintwork looking patchy and horrible - is this normal for the pots to vary in shade this much ?

Difficult paint to work with

Very difficult paint to work with I’m afraid. We are renovating our entire house and have bought paints from several high end brands and this one was not the best by any means. It was difficult to apply, either by brush or roller, and felt tacky even after 24 hours of drying time. We needed to put several coats on to get rid of some patchiness. We have not had any similar problems with the other brands we have used. I’m afraid we will not be using F&B again.

An elegant surprise

What a perfect shade! I’ve painted my wooden floors with it and the transformation has been delightful. The quality of the paint is superb and actually covers more than it states on the tin, making it a better purchase price-wise than other alternatives.

Great colour; difficult to use

Fantastic colour, which is the darkest of greys/ soft black. I chose Off-Black full gloss to repaint a front door that was already a matt black, as I felt that black was a little harsh. In the tin the colour looked a few shades lighter - a mid grey - but it dried to the exact almost black I was hoping for. I found the gloss a little tricky to paint with as it was surprisingly both sticky and drippy, and it was only possible to go over it with the paintbrush/roller for the first 30 seconds or so, after that it was already too gloopy to paint over. But once I knew that, subsequent coats were applied with more care first time. I undercoated and primed with the recommended Dark Tones primer and undercoat. The first couple of coats looked quite weird as the gloss has an unnaturally glassy finish that seems more like a varnish than a paint, and the colour and finish dried up quite patchy, but the third coat gave a more flawless finish I am pleased with. 4 stars rather than 5 because of the difficulty in painting, and because it required 3 coats over the primer and undercoat, not the recommended two.
