Life changer...
I used to have sleepness nights worrying about my water butt overflowing during torrential rain storms but not any more! I simply drilled a hole in the side near the top and fitted this component. I attached 40mm piping with an elbow and fed that into my 68mm downpipe using a "Y" piece. Hey Presto! Sleeping like a baby!

Fitted as an overflow
I bought this to use as an overflow from my water butt. A quick hole drilled through the side of the tank allowed me to route waste water pipe into the original drain. Fitted quickly and easily and no leaks! I ordered two of these and neither were supplied with the translucent washer shown in the photo. I am not sure if this is a change in design or if I was just unlucky. The product still worked without this in my application.
