This Hammerite Rust Beater grey primer provides anti-corrosive protection for metal surfaces. It neutralises existing rust and creates a smooth base for painting, extending the life of iron and steel structures.
- Suitable for Iron surfaces
- Brush application
- Instructions for Use - Stir paint thoroughly. Apply 2 coats, allowing at least 6 hours between coats. A suitable Hammerite topcoat or paint system must be applied after a minimum of 6 hours. For best results, allow 24 hours. Remove as much primer as possible from equipment before cleaning, use Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners. Hammerite No.1 Rust Beater should be stored in a dry, well ventilated area. Protect from frost and direct sunlight.

Hammertoe Paint
Followed the prep instructions & it covered the area to be painted very well. Do pay attention to the temperature range for application as the ambient air temp did get close to its max and started to cure quicker. Great finish being nice and smooth.

Great product. I wanted something to use on my gates with the minimum of effort. After some preparation, this product finished off my mates in a great way. Great coverage but work fast and this is thick paint.

Brilliant primer
I bought this to prime bare steel I had fabricated. I abraded the steel with a 60 grade flapper to get rid of any scale and give paint a key. I degreased it with white spirit gave it 20 mins for any residue to evaporate and set away, Stir this this paint and it will not disappoint. It went on easily and filled any minor defects in the steel it was touch dry in about half an hour. I gave it two coats then after 16 hours rubbed it lightly with 240 grade paper and put the top coat of black hammerite smooth on. The effect is beautiful with a deep shine to the gloss.

Good stuff
Always rub down rust and apply a couple of coats of this as a primer when painting metal. Works really well at stopping rust coming back
