best of the bunch

We've tried three different screws which are supposed to work with cement board. These are the only ones which countersink themselves. Nearly always they pierce through the board accurately and firmly. I needed help to find them in store, they are *not* with the other screws, but were hanging on a shelving upright. Several bags were not full! But these screws are definitely my favourite for this project.

Good with 12mm backer board

I've used these on the 6mm and 12mm backer boards and found them much easier with the 12mm version. As others have said, the 6mm board is very hard and difficukt to get the screws through.

Not 32mm either.

Actually 35mm long. That 3mm probably won't make a difference in most cases but it did to me. Still, decent screws.

Not all that

While these screws are capable of self piloting and have a form of ribbing on the back of the screw head, they still do not self countersink into hardibacker board as it's just too hard of a material and the screws will just start to spin rather than the head sinking flush into the board. I resorted to pre countersinking the board with a 10mm masonary drill bit first. The screws are coated and stronger than standard plasterboard though.
