Olives are used in compression fit plumbing systems to ensure a seal between different components. Constructed from brass, they’re commonly used in hot water systems due to their durability and resistance to corrosion. Simple to use, plumbing olives are slipped on to the pipe and then another fitting or component placed on top and screwed tight – compressing the olive to form the required seal.
