Apply this primer & undercoat from Leyland Trade to interior & exterior , using a brush, to prepare the surface for painting. It takes 16-24 hours to dry and will cover 17 m² per litre on average.

This product is great
I bought this product last month to paint a ready primed mdf panel board. It only needed one coat and the process was very smooth. Later, I painted over it and it helped secure a quality finish.

Poor from B and Q
Product is in the B and Q database as a primer/ undercoat combined. When you read the information on the tin it clearly states a primer is needed. B and Q need to get their act together. I purchased this as a click and collect and then had to return it, not impressed!

Decent alkyd but skins badly
I bought a tin of this formulation in June 23. (Product Code 5010426778044 - 20% larger tin offer). This paint is a perfectly decent alkyd undercoat as one would expect of PPG, the paint industry leviathan from Pittsburgh which supplies a goodly share of US automotive paint, and who now partners with Leyland. The paint is perefctly usable, but has a fatal flaw. It skins badly upon storage. I used about a third of the tin and resealed it. Lo and behold, four months later there is a thick polymer skin on the top of the remaining liquid phase. This phenomenon is a throwback to the 1970s before the widespread adoption of highly effective anti-skinning additives; most notably MEKO. Yes it is possible to fish most of the skin out with a mixer stick, but this is a messy hassle that wastes quite a bit of paint. Furthermore clumps of skin are bound to stay in the remaining liquid paint, and end up on the substrate. I haven't encountered an alkyd that skins like this in 20 years. Is this paint always prone to skinning or was I sold a dud batch? B&Q had marked down the price quite a bit with no explanation as to why.
