Rubbish

Key safety parts missing in first one I purchased. Returned to shop and collected a new one and this time different parts missing. Two wasted journeys on a sub standard piece of rubbish.

Far better than I expected, accurate good machine

This looks like a plastic toy, but works really well. Though I did give it the benefit of an Abracs diamond blade instead of the one supplied, which I've never used. Too many reviews said it was mediocre and I didn't want to ruin expensive tiles and mosaic. (The latter is really impressive - the machine just slices through the glass and stone mosaic). In the past few months this has made hundreds of cuts through 30.3 x 9mm ceramic tiles. If I added them up I'd guess it's cut at least 500m. There is almost no chipping at all, and no sign of the blade wearing. The guide and scale are spot on, accurate straight cuts every time.. Yes, you will get soaked, if you have to view the cut from in front of the blade. I have to use this outdoors because it is messy and very wet. And the water tank needs frequent filling - every 5 or so tiles. But after years of cutting tiles with angle grinders, saws, score and snap, this thing is a miracle. When I bought it from B&Q I thought it was a lot of money, but it was actually cheap. I've had no wastage whatsoever that wasn't my fault. What don't I like? Not much. The assembly instructions are poor, you just have to guess some things (like blade rotation - it rotates clockwise toward the on/off switch, with the switch on the RHS). The safety guard bracket can snag in the cut, if it rotates out of line, but just push it so it doesn't. And it's probably a good idea to use Copper grease on any mild steel threads to prevent rust. The guide is a bit tedious to set, as you have to undo the screw many turns, then screw it tight again - some sort of over-centre cam would be much quicker. But overall, it's excellent. I wish I'd bought it years ago.

Great for tile cutting

I started some worktop/splashback tiling in my kitchen. 7-8mm thick porcelain hexagonal tiles. I came to a problem when trying to make cuts that weren't simply straight (I have a normal manual tile cutter), for example around sockets. With the tools I had, I couldn't manage it, but wasted plenty of time trying. Like any power tool to do a specific job, the cost can feel like an expensive outlay, but I also have some other thicker porcelain tiling to do on a patio outside, so I decided it would be worth purchasing the tile cutter. After unpacking and following the instructions to assemble the blade, which was all straight forward, within minutes I'd started making the cuts I needed with ease. I don't usually write reviews but this product was the difference between day and night for getting the job done.

Does the job well

I was hesitant to purchase this power tool given the negative reviews but as a seasoned tile cutter who has done tile cutting for over 25 years as a hobby and have got through three tools over that period, I must say that this cutter is the best I’ve ever bought. The extendable slider allows for measuring and getting the right cut even for larger tiles, the bed is made of metal which I find easier to clean than the plastic beds (like the cutter I had previously), and it cuts really smoothly. So long as you push the tile really slow (like you should do with tile cutting), it gives a nice smooth and clean cut to the tile, which was a porcelain tile of 8mm in my case; but I’ve bought this with the future in mind because it will happily cut a much thicker tile. You’ll see from my photos that it gives a nice clean cut (ignore the cracks or marks on the tile as that’s part of the design that the camera has exaggerated).

Cheap Rubbish

When trying to cut a tile the Guide moves although the guide was tightened up as much as possible. The Blade is blunt and does not cut the tile very well. very noisy and vibration is bad. Product will be returned.

You need a sou’wester

Having read it was a wet cutter I was prepared for a bit of spray. No! Practically drenched just switching it on! Really must be used outdoors....it’s raining. Can’t do that today then....

Great product

Used the cutter when tiling the kitchen floor. I found it fantastic. It cut through heavy porcelain tiles quickly and with very little chipping. The drawback is that it’s a wet cutter and does spray mucky water from the blade. No problem for me as I set it up in the garage, but I wouldn’t recommend using it in the house.

Trade professional

I bought this tile cutter around a year ago now and have used it for cutting ceramic and porcelain tiles no problem at all. I've had no issues with tiles chipping but I only use quality tiles and always make sure my blade is in good conditionbefore cutting. I've also used this cutter for cutting brick slips and it glides through them with ease.
