Great jigsaw

I previously had this jigsaw for about 8 years, and worked it hard. It eventually gave up, but it was great, and so I have just bought the same replacement

Excellent bit of kit

A very expensive (back in the day) black and decker jigsaw finally gave up the go half way through a job and I didn’t have the time to repair it again and ended up buying this. It doesn’t have a soft start like the B&D had, but a variable speed selector, so I reasoned I could use that if required, but to be honest when I started using the jigsaw I didn’t even notice its absence. Previous reviewer mentioned the single screw holding the base plate. This is the case, but I didn’t have any issues with it. For some of the cuts I made, I had to set the plate over at angles and once these cuts were complete I returned it back to the level setting and it stayed fixed in place. I did notice that to angle the base plate, not only do you slacken the screw, the base plate has to be slid back before allowing it to change angle and I can only assume that the previous reviewer didn’t return the plate forward again once any angle cuts were made. This would mean that any twisting action would be held by the screw and not the locking part. Or maybe I’m wrong and the reviewer had a defective jigsaw, who knows, but I can say I didn’t have any issues. Jigsaw also has a handy way of holding the Allen key that is required to fit blades. Old jigsaw had it on the flex and it was forever snagging. Not exactly an amazing feature, but I thought it was handy. It doesn’t allow the freedom of a cordless (battery) jigsaw, but all in all a good piece of equipment at a good price and perfect for DIY tasks.

Poor quality

Only 1 stud holding the sole plate in place, the sole plate moves when in use even when the stud is tighted to the max
