Mk 10A 2way 1 gang switch

Nice switch, smooth operation compared to other harder to press makes that click & clunk loudly. Nothing wrong with the terminal screws as stated by so many other weekend DIY’ers. The terminal screws are designed to be tight to stop the grub screws from falling out whilst installing. Simply insert the wire turn the screw clockwise until it gets slightly tight then continue turning through the “tight spot” it then loosens up a little before finally tightening up once more & securing the wire correctly. Overall my preferred switch when compared to the other brands on the market. Don’t be put off by other people’s incompetence.

Terminal screws too short

Just tried fitting this and the terminal screws aren’t long enough. Luckily I had some longer ones from the fitting I was replacing, saving me a trip back to the shop. Just seen someone else’s review that the screws ARE long enough if you really screw down on them (and possibly risk busting the whole thing up). Well, that’s not apparent when fitting it!

Wire screws are too short

Bought this switch as it was the only one I could get locally same day. The locating screws are too short but I managed to use the ones from the old switch. It worked.

Do not buy, terminal screws don't work

Like many others have said, terminal screws just don't work. Had to return to store. Store didn't really care that they're selling a faulty product.

Unusable

I bought 4 of these, on separate occasions at different times, all of them have the same fault. The screws used to connect the wires to COM cannot be tightened. They twist a little but no where close to being able to grip the wire. I tried angling the screw slightly differently which did not help. If you try to put more force through it then the screw head deforms despite correct screwdriver. Frustrating and delayed my diy. Eventually read online that this is a common fault with mk switches and so I went to tool station and got their equivalent which was looked identical but was cheaper and worked first time.

Not the easiest of switches to wire up

As many have said, at first it appears the wire securing screws seem too short. Actually they aren't. You just have to use a bit of brute force to screw them all the way in. Do this before trying to put the wire in to loosen the screws up a bit then job's a gudden, well sort of. Guess MK are trying to make sure the screws don't go missing or loosen over their life. But they have gone too far if that was their intention!

Avoid, very poor!

I bought these to replace my 30 year old MK switches. The quality of the new switches is nowhere near that of the old, with one terminal unable to pinch the cable due to either the screw being too short or the thread in the terminal block faulty..

All good

Bought one of these yesterday to test out (due to the bad reviews) and it was fine. No issues. The only slight issue is that the screws for the face plate are a bit short but that's the case with them all, so I reused the old screws.
