Great varnish

Great varnish. Did the job. Dried quickly so really quick and easy to get a few coats done.

Good solvent-free quick drying varnish

Good solvent-free quick drying varnish. I prefer solvent-based for a strong durable finish but needed something that would cure quickly and would be tough (I'm using it on the ply lining in my camper conversion). It pays to prep beforehand to make the most of the varnish - clean and lightly sand the ply/timber first, and then lightly sand (at least 100grit) between each coat (I did 3 coats). Also don't put thick layers down as you'll get brush strokes which take longer to sand back. If you plan it carefully you can get 3 coats on in a day allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. I did see a few people having issues with it not curing properly and causing problems but wonder if it was a bad batch? I've not had any issues and this is my second tin (the first one I purchased a few years ago). Being water-based clean up is fairly easy without having to mess about with turps etc.

Excellent product.

Bought this product to apply to new doors, found it was excellent to bring out the natural colour of the wood, and to protect it.

Fantastic Product

I brought this product last month to treat my oak veneer doors and the finish is superb. The doors now look amazing.

Rubbish varnish - to be avoided.

I've been a Ronseal enthusiast for many decades. But that was when Ronseal's products were oil-based and fit-for-purpose. The 'new and improved' water-based varnish just does not work. I used the Antique Pine Interior Varnish Diamond Hard and made a complete mess of my pine floor. It is nearly impossible to hide brush strokes so the floor is covered in blobs and lines. I suspect the varnish is designed to off really, really fast so it can be re-coated in 2 hours.Looks like I'll need to strip my floor all over again. I'll never touch Ronseal products again.

Does what it says on the tin

Used it to protect our newly sanded wood floors. Easy to apply and went further than I expected!

Awful stays tacky

I made a large fitted desk/workstation in my attic room. It is constructed of a pine frame with chipboard inserts. In the areas where I rest my arms and use a mouse, the varnish has become tacky, feels almost rubberised and items stick to the desk and shelves. Some items I have had to put felt pads over rubber feet to prevent them from sticking. I spent a great deal of effort with the construction and the last finishing part has turned out to be a disaster. I have been a keen DIY enthusiast for over 40 years and never come across a problem like this; looking online it seems that quite a few others are having the same issue. The reason for using this varnish was because it dried clear and is advertised as Diamond hard, I should have used oil based like I did with the previous desk I made 30years ago, which still has the original coat of varnish. I am thoroughly disappointed with Ronseal's response, although they did offer to refund me the price of one tin. I am now faced with having to take it all apart, sand it down and re-varnish with an oil based product. I'll never again use water based varnishes or paints. Check out video before purchasing.

Perfect finish

Used this varnish on all our oak wood, doors etc. The satin finish looks superb. Very easy to use, with the right preparation.
