Wood filler

Wood filler. Easy to use. Did a good job on outdoor table.

Perfect product

I am recently widowed so now sadly have to tackle the running repairs around the house . I rely on products doing what they say on the can and the Ronseal Filler certainly did that. So easy to use and dried surprisingly quickly so I could fill then paint my barge boards all in one day, it gave me the confidence to tackle more jobs both in and out of the house.

great gap filler.

I've used this product often, normally after using the Ronseal Wood hardener for a super finished job. The filler is easily worked, and has a pretty good curing time - fast enough but not to fast, with little sag if deep filling, or a second layer as needed. For me the dark brown is a good filler colour for painting over. Use outside or in well ventilated area. I'll use this again where a good solid finish on wood is needed. I use an old spatula as my favourite aplication tool.

Rubbish is what it should say on the tin

Bought it once used it once and never ever a again .

Moimeme - 3 / 5 - 30/08/2021

Messy and awkward to use.

Difficult to apply and smooth in. It will almost certainly need smoothing down. This is NOT a dark colour! A browny reddish tint! I would doubt the rest would be usable, and I would probably seek something else. RON seal seem to have strayed from their core products, and not always successfully. Shame about the supposedly ‘does what it says on the tin’ reputation

Didn’t do what it said on the tin! Avoid!

Appears to go on well, but we used on window sills to protect against weather damage and frustratingly the wood stain applied to it peeled off within one year producing deep cracks and crumbling. We contacted Ronseal but they dismissed it as being due to the preparation and advised us to contact the paint manufacturer which we did. Johnstones were a lot more professional and even carried out a lab analysis of samples of the flaked paint. Their conclusion was that the failure of the product was due to the surface as the coating did bond to the filler but the filler itself cracked. We are now planning to replace our windows as they look unsightly, are too high maintenance, but more importantly are not protecting against the elements.

Colour is NOT dark and tin only third full.

Image on tin looks like Walnut shade and states Walnut, Chestnut and Dark Oak. IN fact this is a terracotta colour and really stands out on dark wood. So very disappointed about that. Also, although the tin is the same size as one I bought ten years ago, the contents are much, much less. A bit of a swizz really as one buys filler by volume not by weight.

The best

Been using this product for years, it’s the best. So glad that B&Q stock a “Dark” colour as well as white and natural. I was beginning to think Ronseal has stopped making a “ dark “variety. Plus in this instance B&Q price is very competitive !

Perfect job!

Mix it up, fill the hole, smooth off. It sticks to the old wood a treat and sands down dead easy, then stain!

not much in tin

i bought 2 tins of this and found out it contained less than half the can i was really disappointed .
