Woody restore - 5 / 5 - 12/04/2025

Great item

Great product giving a good finish for wood preservation . Easy application good coverage and consistency

Great design

I love this tin. The style and design of the illustration give but a single way in which the filler may be used, however the colours employed are a masterclass in portraying typical objects. For example the bricks are deeply red to an ideal of perfection and the corners are sharp, the mortar is an even gray and perfectly employed. Two main shadings of wood are displayed, one appears to show pine or similar which is curiously unprotected, or at least unpainted, which is unusual for an external frame. The other shading is darker an intended to give an impression of age, again seemingly unprotected, it is this piece to which filler seems to be being applied. The impression being given is that there is damage to the join between the cross piece and the upright. As the trowel being used shows quite a bend it seems that quite a bit of force is being used which raises a question of the authenticity of this aspect, notably the filler appears to be too raised instead of being spread more. Assuming the ‘hand’ is not a prosthetic it has a remarkable lack of detail, but this may be a nod in the direction to use gloves, who knows? As I have indicated the external aspected of this tin are pleasing to my senses. I have yet to employ the contents.

Inadequate hardener tube.

Does the job extremely well, the only problem is that the tube of hardener is too small, and when I attempted to unscrew it, the nozzle completely came away from the tube. This resulted that after using the product once, I will not be able to use it again.

ideal for all types of repairs

I use this type of filler past all the time - not just for repairing wood surfaces but all manner of other repairs around the home. It is always a pleasure as it is easy to use and fast drying, as well as easy to spread and sand when dry. The result can be left as is and there is good adhension if intended for painting over. Availability of clear, white and stained alternatives allows good matching to substrates, although the pigment of the stained product would benefit from being darker. As with such products in general, it is worthwhile buying only as much as needed or keeping the cap firmly on when stored, since the resin tends to dry and harden over time.

quality stuff

bought this to sort out a few little issues in my caravan, brilliant stuff, use the hardener properly! if you put too much in it will set hard within 5-10 mins and the hardener will run out before the filler, best 2 part filler around

SteveP37 - 1 / 5 - 01/06/2023

Not for the amateur

Really messy to mix, particularly getting the right constituency. Colour match is poor too, so be careful in selecting the right option. Goes off very quickly when combined and staining/painting doesn't match to original wood. A disappointment overall from this renowned brand.

Gypsywoman - 5 / 5 - 19/10/2022

It does EXACTLY what it says on the tin!

This was exactly what was needed for the job at home just be aware you need to use it quite quickly as once it has cured it is rock solid

timber repair

used with Ronseal wood hardener this product can save you hundreds of pounds and so much time because you can repair rather than replace rotted timber.

Great Product, Callum is a pine tree

This worked so brilliantly. I loved it. I’m glad I’m not a cowboy builder like Callum. If I was I wouldn’t know how to use this product properly and I’d have to moan about it in a totally unrelated group about Facebook marketplace. Ronseal 1-0 Callum (Pine Tree)

SteveQ - 1 / 5 - 30/08/2021

Works well but very poor colour match

Im not sure the Ronseal products team have ever seen the colour of dark wood
