Great colour
I have used the paint on some old furniture and it now looks stunning

It’s ok, don’t love it
Nice colour but lots of prep needed & multiple coats & post paint wax. For the right person this would be great but it wasn’t for me

excellent coverage
This product was easy to use and coverage was good, however, it was a brighter blue than the colour on the tin, and will need a varnish to seal it. Overall I would buy this product again for things like shabby chique furniture

My most successful Project To Date
TBH I can’t remember whether I was convinced when working with it, but I finished it with the lacquer and the outcome was really popular with customers so would use again. If in doubt, just gently sand between layers. Good luck!

Not great for smooth finishes
I bought this paint to upcycle a wooden unit. I painted a base using oil based paint and then painted two coats of Rust-Oleum chalky finish - ink blue (whilst gently sanding in between coats) ... I can’t get along with this paint! Even though I’ve used a very soft nylon brush, it shows every paint stroke and looks horrible. My plan was to wax it afterwards to make it look more ‘rustic’ so I’ve used a clear bees wax, followed by the Rust-Oleum dark wax. However this seems to have exaggerated the brush strokes even more! Really don’t like this chalky finish. If this is the effect you’re after, then great. But if you’re after a more smooth finish - not great.

Colour not as described
I was happy overall with my upcycle of a wooden unit, however the paint was a very funny shade of blue certainly not navy. I had to apply 2 coats of clear varnish to darken the colour to make it look like the ink blue as described on the tin. The paint spreads lovley and is easy to use, the negative is just the colour.

Nicer with dark wax
I bought this but wanted a deeper blue. Comes out quite purply before waxing. Clear wax darkens it slightly, but I recommend following with dark wax too - emphasizes the edges that would otherwise be lost and really depends the colour. Attached are before and after waxing

Not great.
If you are looking to achieve chalk effect may as well just rub some chalk on your timbers.. this stuff leaves marks on anything that touches the painted surface. If left untreated it will stain and mark with lightest touch. Using wax as top coat doesnt work, or any lacquer or sealant as the paint (dried 24 hours) mixes with new fresh/wet coat leaving unsigthy marks all over.

Peels easy and very light in colour.
I bought this colour by seeing images of it in use - painted on plain oak and it turned out very light. It's certainly not ink blue. It also peels easy even after a wax coat. Went and bought Johnston's midnight blue which turned out far better.

It's purple ..
It's not the deep dark blue the photo makes it look like. It's not the mid blue that's on the tin. Open it and the paint is a mid purple blue. I painted a test onto a dark wood surface and it was light purple blue It's purple folks. Same colour as the purple smarties.
