Renovate and transform furniture with this chalky finish furniture paint. With a classic, smooth touch and flat matt finish, it brings a new lease of life to tired, worn-out objects. Finish with a layer of Rust-Oleum furniture finishing wax or Rust-Oleum furniture lacquer for protection
- For use on Furniture
- Does not require any priming or sanding on most surfaces, simply ensure the surfaces are smooth, dry and free from contaminants. For best results, remove any wax or oil from the surface and if wax is used then clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. It is recommended that bare wood should be sanded before painting. Finish with a layer of Rust-Oleum furniture finishing wax or Rust-Oleum furniture lacquer for protection
- Instructions for Use - Stir the product thoroughly prior to use. It may be applied with a brush or roller. If applying with a brush, apply evenly following the grain of the wood. If rolling, use a short nap mohair roller. To create a distressed look, apply 2 coats in contrasting colours. Allow to dry and then lightly abrade with moistened sand paper or a stainless steel scouring pad. Subsequently abrade with the grain of the wood. Protect the paint effect with Rust-Oleum furniture finishing wax.

Rust-Oleum Natural Charcoal Flat Matt
I purchased this product to paint a unit in my bathroom. It painted on great. Had a wonderful finish, though I paired it up with a clear wax to protect it in a high use area. The wax made the paint go much darker which was lovely. The paint on its own was a chalky charcoal and with the wax it turned it into a slightly glossy nearly black. Super product but it does actually like a chalk paint when left unfinished, which is what you'd expect from a flat matt

Great paint
Great quality paint. Usually find chalk paints quite watery but the consistency of this was nice and thick with good coverage and pigment

Looks better in person!
Upcycled a wooden shoe cabinet and was happy with one coat, but two looked gorgeous. Dried so quick and a really deep colour. Definitely recommend and buy again

Great paint
Great paint. It’s really black matt finish. Some other are slightly glossy but this one is spot on. Easy to paint

Love love love!
This paint is a dream to work with, requires more than one coat( for a stairway going from white to charcoal) but overal I am so impressed with the finishing look! I will be investing in their products for future projects that’s for sure. Highly recommend.

Amazing coverage
I love this Matt paint, covers amazingly. Only downside is I painted a sideboard and it makes with white finger prints when you touch it. I have now purchased and repainted with the rust-oleum washable Matt paint

Amazing paint
I decided to paint my oak door’s black. Used a different brand which was awful! Doors were so streaky. Thankfully I purchased this paint. It is amazing!! No streaks and a lovely Matt finish!

Perfect
Used this shade to paint an old alcove which would turn yellow every time when painted white. Very pleased how it turned out , finished off with the Rust Oleum Wax and the finish is perfect!
