- Raising soil levels, laying lawns and filling raised beds
- Composition - 0
- To prepare the soil for laying a new lawn first dig over the area to be turfed or seeded and ensure the soil is free from weeds, rubble and large stones. Rake the soil level, spread the top soil over the soil surface to a depth of at least 50mm (2") and add a pre-turf fertiliser. Firm down the soil surface and rake level.

Great product but check what's in the bag before b
Having purchased several bags which were great, it was unfortunate that two bags were made up of a clay type material, not quality top soil like the othe bags

Full of debris and clay
Very poor quality soil. It's full of clay clumped together, twigs, stones, bits of plastic and ceramics and worst of all, shards of glass. I had to pick out what I could but there's so much junk in the ground now it's almost impossible to get it all out. I really regret using this soil but I didn't have much choice as I needed to get on with the job. I'm not sure anything is going to grow in this. On top of that only one bag out of five was dry, the rest were solid damp clumps that were very difficult to separate and couldn't even be sifted to screen the foreign debris out. Will not be using again.

B&Q rolled turf.
Good turf that has taken well. Laid down on top of some B&Q top soil.

Brilliant quality
Bought this on special offer to lay a lawn over, and to use the rest for mixing compost for pot plants on my patio. It allowed the own to take straight away and has been great in the pots. I’d definitely buy it again (especially when on special offer!)

Wonderful
Bought in September to patch repair front lawn. Had never done before and wasn’t confident of success but has worked wonderfully. Only 4 star as some twig like bits in which don’t need removing or affect use but seemed odd.

Mares Tail be warned
I built two raised beds earlier this year and bought all the compost, top soil and sand from B&Q. At the time I thought everything was fine. In recent weeks, to my horror, mares tail has appeared in both raised beds. This weed is so invasive and has been brought into my beautiful garden in the products I bought from B&Q. I am angry and devastated. I am starting the task of trying to eradicate it before it spreads.

Top soil
What can I say, it does what it says on the package. I needed a small amount to fill a corner to grass over, it did it exactly.

Base layer.
Bought to use as a base before returfing an area of lawn. Good results with turf establishing in a couple of weeks.
