Product information
A high-performance basecoat that stops bleed-through from wood knots and prevents cracking and peeling. This 2.5L tin will cover up to 25m² on average.

- Apply using a Brush
- Instructions for Use - Stir contents to ensure paint is thoroughly mixed. Purchase enough paint to complete the job. Apply 2 coats using a suitable brush in the direction of the woodgrain. When the second coat is dry, lightly sand before applying the top coat. Wipe away dust with a damp cloth. Dries to the touch in about 30 minutes under normal conditions. Allow 2-4 hours between coats.

Easy to apply

Does what it should
It’s thin - it’s meant to be. It’s got very little white in it - it’s not meant to be a top coat pigmented paint, it’s a primer with knot blocking properties, and it works really well without the awful smell of solvent based stuff. I used it to go over knots that had bled through on old woodwork, I used two coats about two hours apart then top coated several hours later. Brilliant results. 18 months later and not a sign of any brown spots appearing anywhere.

Poor quality
After reading the review on Valspar Trade site. I thought I’d give it a try. It’s terribly thin on opening, so mixed for a while. Which made it slightly thicker. Yes it flows well but has little opacity even after 2 coats as stated.

Great product
Bought on the advice of the sales person, told me to give it a very good stir before using the product. Went on like a dream covered the knots very well. Highly recommend!

Thin, like milk
Bought this thinking because it was Valspar and had the word 'Trade' on it it should be good. How wrong could I be! Thin, milky consistency that would require several coats to cover bare wood properly. To add to the disappointment there was a layer of thick, solid paint at the base of the tin which refused to stir in however hard I tried.
