Bad workmen blame their tools

Either Vitrex have drastically changed their product or most of the other reviewers just didn't know what they were doing and too lazy to spend 5 minutes to watch a youtube video. I bought this last week to repoint a large section of stone wall and it worked absolutely perfectly. Much better than a gun that needs refilled every couple minutes. The mortar mix needs to be wetter than mortar used for pointing with a trowel, otherwise you’re just trying to pipe something with the flow characteristic bread dough. Scoop some onto a trowel and hold it flat. If it sticks to the trowel and doesn’t come off, it’s obviously not going to pipe well. If it can hold its vertical height but slides off easily when the trowel is turned 90 degrees, then it’s good to go. Put some in the bag, give it a test squeeze into the bucket. If it pipes well, then good. If not, add some water and mix again. The piping bag holds the moisture in well so the mortar in the bag has the same pot life, which was good as I had to put a half full bag down to finish the mortar which was curing on the wall faster than expected. Afterwards, picked the bag up, test squeeze into the bucket, then back to it.

Not without effort

Currently pointing an old wall with lime mortar and got sick of filling and cleaning a roughneck mortar gun every 5 mins , anyway tried this instead, granted it's not without a bit of effort and technique bit it does the same job just as well in a fraction of the time. Definitely recommend

Should have read the reviews!!!

This was a total waste of money, as other reviewers stated almost impossible to get the grout through the nozzle

Waste of Money

Really difficult to squeeze grout out. Total waste of money.

The Unholy Trinity

I don’t usually bother with reviews but this is soooo bad. It really covers the unholy trinity of a new tool, it uses more material, applies it less effectively and is much harder work than the existing method. It last 10 minutes before landing in the bin. Buy decent grout float.
