Product information

Volden Cold lay Pothole repair is made from Bitumen and is suitable for repairing driveways and footpaths. Ready for light foot traffic in 30 minutes.

    • Guarantee - Statutory
    • Ensure the area where the Volden Pothole Repair is to be laid is dry and firm enough to support the weight of a car under normal conditions. • Sweep the area and remove all weeds. • Before overlaying concrete or paving, spray or brush on a tack coat of bitumen emulsion (edging & Jointing Spray is recommended) at a rate of about 0.5litres/m2 , to help prolong the life of the repair, especially if prone to freeze/thaw conditions. It is not recommended to use Cold Lay Macadam in outside temperatures below 5oC or when the area to be worked is very wet. 1) Use an ordinary rake, spade or trowel to spread the macadam to the required thickness.Use a roller to achieve good compaction or, alternatively, use a heavy, flat object for ‘tamping’ to achieve similar results. Wet the roller or tamper frequently to stop the Cold Lay Macadam sticking to the tool and ‘picking up’. 2) When repairing deep pot-holes (greater than 30mm) lay the Cold Lay Macadam in two stages. Thoroughly compact the first layer before spreading the next layer and compact to bring the finished surface to the required level. 3) Brush a little dry sand or dust over the surface after compaction to help prevent ‘picking up’ of the fresh material as it sets. This is not essential but may be helpful, especially on warmer days. 4)Clean all equipment and tools with water prior to the material setting. 5) Do not place heavy and sharp objects on the newly laid surface. Protect from caravan legs, jockey wheels and other similar high loadings. 6) The time taken by the Volden Pothole Repair to harden fully will depend on the degree of compaction and ambient temperature.
    • Driveway, path and road repairs
    • Skin contact: The product is very sticky. Use skin cleanser followed by soap and water to remove any material that comes into contact with skin. Fumes from Cold Lay Macadam are unlikely to be hazardous when laid in open air situations, but there may be a risk to health by continuous inhalation of high vapour concentrations which might arise in confined or semi-confined spaces. Respiratory Protection: Suitable masks if dust/fumes are present in significant quantities. Hand Protection: Gloves. Eye Protection: Goggles maybe required. Skin Protection: Overalls.
