Not so simple to fit

This was bought as a replacement for a less secure type of lock. Whilst it was easy to fit to the mech of the composite door there is a problem that may be encountered. There are two lugs on the outside of the upper barrel, and in my case these these fouled on a fitting plate which was not immediately obvious. there is an inner plate, which is fixed by a single screw from the inside, which passes through the door and into a similar plate on the outside. these two plates come together at the centre moving piece of the lock. When fitting the outer plate (which is a tight fit to the barrel) it fouls the lugs and if tightened, distorts the alignment of the lock mech, so that it doesn't function properly. My remedy was to file a small groove in the end of the outer plate so that it can fit properly in position. I could of course left these plates off, but it would have been less secure. None of the videos that I have seen show these plates. Is mine the only door with these alignment plates? Nothing wrong with the product at all. The lock now works fine after a bit of fiddling. Note that the alignment plates are completely hidden by the door handles.
