Double begonias will help you create a luxurious summer long display and are perfect for patio pots, beds, and borders.
- Planting location: Beds, borders or in patio pots
- Soil moisture: Well drained, Soil pH: Neutral
- Flowering period: June-October, Planting period: May - June
- Start off begonias in a greenhouse or windowsill. Lightly press each tuber hollow-side up into peat-free compost in pots or trays to start them growing. Plant out when the risk of frost has passed. Water well during dry spells. When foliage has died back, usually after the first frost, cut stems back to 5cm above soil level. Not winter hardy. To over-winter, dig up the tubers and store them in a cool, dry and frost-free place. Replant in the same way next year.
