Decent for sanding stairs
Bought it for sanding stairs. Did a good job. Wish I had purchased something with a little more power though.

A very good tool in the lower budget range.
I previously had a Makita sander unit for nearly 20 yr, which was a very good product - this new Macalister unit is easily equal and probably has the edge due to the variable speed. However the use of the ripping attachments when using 'cut sandpaper sheets' was not so effective. The use of the 'hook & loop' pads is a great improvement over using cut sheets, but comes at a higher cost.....overall though, a very good tool to use and own.

First one broke in less than an hour
I bought one, it completely stopped working in less than 1 hour. However b&q swapped no quibble and used the second one for about 3 hours so far with no issue. Fingers crossed

Vibrating pad too thick
If you’re buying the standard sand-paper sheets and cutting them into thirds for this (as I do) you’ll find the pad is so thick there is hardly any paper going under the grip clips. Loading paper is fiddly and often the paper dislodges during use. Annoying. Apart from that the sander works well.

Value for money
Surprisingly good value. Works well for my needs. The McAllister range all seem value for money with good warranty
