Very useful tool
A useful tool, once you know how to use it. Could do with some instructions with it.

Not ideal for 100mm coving?
I bought this to cut 100mm Pro-Cove lite. The coving was not uniform shape in that the flat edges to which the adhesive is applied were of different widths. There was no guidance on which was the ceiling edge (crucial, as it turned out, in using the mitre box) so I went by the photo on the packaging. Also no guidance on the mitre box but I found a video on the B&Q website. The box appeared to cater for this narrower coving but I wasted a length of coving before realising that the video instructions were wrong. After reversing the recommended position for the ceiling edge in the box I managed to get a fairly decent joint. Would probably be easier if using 127mm coving but worth first cutting 2 small 'test' pieces with opposing joints to make sure they marry up.

USEFULL
I bought this to help when mitering coving which it does but you need to ensure the coving is secuerly held in place when cutting, its not perfect but it does help

Magnums mitre blocks for coving
Brilliant product, makes mitreing easy. It holds the coving in place so you can make an accurate mitre.

Brilliant. Perfect.
I bought this mitre box because whenever I used to cut the mitres for the coving to go around corners, I kept cutting the wrong angles! Here's my old mitre box (photo 1), with the coving in. I guess someone who does coving regularly would be okay with this, but I just couldn't ever remember which angle was which? Here's the coving in this mitre box (photo 2) and as you can see (photo 3), it is now more obvious which angle to cut. When I went to leave this review, I notice someone else has had some problems with their coving? I can see that the problem there is not the mitre box. Any mitre box will only guide the saw so that you can cut the angle properly, which on a corner should be a 45 degree cut (photo 4). If the wall you are cutting around is not a 90 degree corner...or, if the ceiling is way out of level (and I mean, like sloping up or down like mad) that is bound to open up your mitre, which will no longer be 45 degrees (photo 5). So, when you put up coving, the first step before you do anything is to go around the room with a small piece of coving and mark the wall first, at the bottom of the coving. Do this, say, twice, on each of the four walls and then use a spirit level and put a level line around the room at the lowest of the pencil lines. Mark the level line with a pencil on the wall around the room. This will be where your coving will fit to. If there are little gaps that fade in and out above the coving, just fill it with your adhesive and smooth it with your finger, so that it blends in. It's really easy and I've seen decorators do this, so that's a little tip for you! Most properties, even old properties, shouldn't have this problem. I have a couple of old properties that I rent out and they are only old terraced properties, with not perfect ceilings and walls and they worked fine. But if they do, just use the adhesive that you use to stick the coving to the wall and the ceiling and put it along the top, or anywhere else where your walls or ceilings have caused a problem? But ours was perfect and I cut the right angle every time (photo 6), so I'm pleased! Got to do my daughter's next weekend now, though, so not a totally happy outcome?? Could've done with a weekend off? LOL

Very good
I am a noob when it comes to DIY. I bought it last week after attempting to cut the corners for my coving with another mitre and failing hopelessly. Unfortunately, I found that the angles I was cutting them wasn't good enough as well as the direction. In those aspects, I found this Magnussion mitre box very helpful. Thing to consider: - ensure your coving fits in properly with the box - the coving I chose was 100mm and it fits well in the box so it didn't move while i was making the cuts. The only disadvantage: - NO instruction manual as how to make the cut for the corners - I would have given 5 stars otherwise. I had to look at my previous mitre for these instructions.
