Dowels

Wooden dowels are a great alternative to the use of metal fasteners. Use them in pre-drilled holes with the support of a suitable adhesive and they can create strong and invisible hold. Often, they are used in furniture in conjunction with other metal fastenings, like when you build flat pack furniture.
